What Your Business Needs to Know About Artificial Intelligence (AI) – IT services experts

Written by Mike Appollo | May 04, 2023

AI is everywhere now. Like most tools, eventually cyber criminals will exploit the technology and use it for nefarious purposes. Most likely, trends in AI influencing email spam will increase. For example, it used to be easy to spot phishing attempts due to bad grammar and spelling.

Now, AI apps can be used to generate well-crafted emails and incorporate data that has been collected, either from public resources or purchased off the Dark Web, about a company and its executives. Such emails will be harder to detect and will be deceptively convincing.

Implementing a Human Firewall

While AI-based anti-spam apps can help in the fight against these types of scams, it is important to implement a “human firewall” to carefully evaluate whether an email could be spam. People need to apply a healthy dose of skepticism when it comes to email or other scam attempts. With training and reinforcement, people can be trained to verify the validity of any request that seems out of the ordinary or shows signs of a shift in how normal operations are handled.
